Salesforce Sales Cloud vs Onpipeline:

What happens beyond the Sales Pipeline?

Compare how Salesforce and Onpipeline handle quotes, approvals, e-signatures, recurring revenue, invoicing, customer portals, inventory and the processes that continue after the sales pipeline.

The main difference is how that capability is packaged and implemented. Standard Sales Cloud covers CRM and quoting, while more advanced post-pipeline capabilities extend into Revenue Cloud, Experience Cloud and other Salesforce products.

Onpipeline takes a more consolidated approach.

Salesforce Quotes vs Onpipeline Quote Management

Salesforce Sales Cloud already includes genuine quoting functionality. From Pro Suite upward, sales teams can create quotes from opportunities, use products and price books, create multiple quotes for the same opportunity, generate PDFs from templates and email them to customers. For more sophisticated quoting, Salesforce offers Revenue Cloud, now also called Agentforce Revenue Management.

Onpipeline provides approval, rejection and revisions as part of its Quote Management workflow from the Standard plan. Sales reps can create a quote from a deal and pricebook, submit it for approval, receive a rejection and create a new revision.

The difference is not whether Salesforce can manage a sophisticated quote process. It can. The difference is how much additional revenue-management infrastructure is required to do it.

Quote Management

E-signatures: signature capture vs remote signing workflow

Salesforce Revenue Management includes native digital signature capture in Document Builder, allowing a customer’s signature to be captured directly on a quote document. However, Salesforce’s native Document Builder workflow is primarily designed for signature capture rather than a complete remote esignature process.

For sending documents to recipients for online signature, Salesforce integrates with e-signature providers such as DocuSign.

Onpipeline includes the remote e-signature workflow directly in Quote Management. Customers can receive a quote for signature, sign it online, and the signed document remains connected to the quote and commercial process without requiring an external e-signature application.

Salesforce can manage inventory, but not inside standard Sales Cloud

Salesforce Sales Cloud includes Products and Price Books, allowing sales teams to associate products, prices and line items with opportunities and quotes. But a product catalog should not be confused with inventory or stock management.

Salesforce does provide substantial inventory capabilities elsewhere in its ecosystem. Salesforce Order Management includes inventory.

Onpipeline Advanced includes inventory directly within the sales process. Sales reps can check stock availability while preparing a quote, with stock management connected to the same products being quoted.

Salesforce can provide far more advanced enterprise inventory capabilities, but stock management is not part of the standard Sales Cloud quote workflow.

Customer Portal for document collection & sharing

Salesforce can create sophisticated customer portals through Experience Cloud. What standard Sales Cloud does not provide out of the box is the same dedicated customer-document workflow available in Onpipeline.

Salesforce actually has something much closer to Onpipeline called Document Tracking and Approvals. However, Salesforce currently makes that functionality available through specific industry products such as Financial Services Cloud, Health Cloud, Manufacturing Cloud, Public Sector Solutions and others, rather than standard Sales Cloud.

Onpipeline Advanced includes a Customer Portal as a native CRM module. Customers can log in, access shared files and invoices, receive specific document requests, upload the requested files and resubmit corrected documents after rejection.

Pricing note: Salesforce Pro Suite starts at $100/user/month billed annually and includes standard Sales Quoting. Revenue Cloud Growth, designed for CPQ and subscription management, is listed at $150/user/month billed annually, while Revenue Cloud Advanced is $200/user/month and adds invoicing and broader quote-to-cash capabilities. Onpipeline Standard is $39/user/month billed monthly and includes Quote Management, approvals, revisions and e-signatures.

CRM with AI

Salesforce offers a broad and highly customizable AI-agent platform capable of supporting complex enterprise use cases. Onpipeline takes a more focused approach, providing core sales workflows that can be used in natural language without requiring teams to configure custom agents, actions or flows first.

CRM with Invoicing

Revenue Cloud Advanced supports invoice generation for one-time and subscription products, billing schedules, taxes and invoice previews. Salesforce Billing can automate invoice runs, handle payments, refunds, credit memos, payment promises, write-offs, multiple legal entities and significantly more complex billing requirements.

Onpipeline includes invoicing directly in the CRM. Even the Pipeline plan includes a limited number of invoices.

The difference is that invoicing in Salesforce is a separate revenue-management layer beyond Sales Cloud, while Onpipeline includes commercial invoicing directly in the CRM.
